Stolen Songs
This Midsummer you find yourself traversing well-traveled roads on your way to the Town of Skald for the local festival, and most importantly, to take part in the Meistersinger Contest.
The Contest is legendary amongst the minstrels and bards and brings a wealth of prominence to those who perform well in it.
You are thinking deeply about the upcoming events when you are accosted by brigands who demand you hand over all your coin and anything of value in exchange for your life.

Munching on an apple plum dumpling, you make your way over to the main stage where the Troubadours competition will be held and where they will determine who will be next year's Meistersinger, some form of singing mayor in a town of bards.
Someone has mistaken you for somebody else, and you are hurried onto the stage to perform!

A comely tall woman approaches you, dressed in the finest of clothes.

You then see the winner of the current bout, a strange gypsy-like man who sang with a haunting melody that chilled your soul, the tall woman approaches him and whispers something to him that you cannot hear, before walking off into the crowd.
Then you find an event that is more to your liking, a dueling event against the local champion.
Even though the duel is just for sport, they do warn you that sometimes accidents happen and people can die.
Looking forward to the challenge, you step up.

Night Falls and the celebrations are in full swing still, people are dancing in the street and fireworks explode above in the sky.
Then a hideous shriek splits the air!
All music and dancing stop and people clamor to the edge of Town near the woods from where the shriek came from.
Arriving there, you see a circle of Gypsys surrounding an old crone who cradles a body in her arms, weeping horribly "My son..... my son....."
Drawing closer you see the remains of her son, it was as if something had sucked the very life from his body leaving him a decayed and shriveled husk.
With the full force of her grief, she curses the village "May your songs go unsung, and may your works become undone until justice is met for my Son!" and you feel a shiver down your spine as if her voice carries more than just words.
Returning to Town, you decide to inform the Meistersinger about what just transpired.
Entering the Mayor's building, you hear the sound of a woman singing a haunting melody that seems familiar somehow.
The Meistersinger turns out to be that tall, beautiful woman from earlier, and she is disturbed by what you tell her and bides you to keep on your guard as the celebrations in the night continue, for the Gypsys are a dangerous people.
Somberly, you return to the celebrations.

The old crone approaches you, flanked by two large gypsy men, and speaks "You are an interesting creature, neither of nor from this world, yet you slide through the currents as one who is natural.
My Son did not have to die, but I have divined his true killer... we call it 'Lehainan Shee', the hungering song, she steals songs and the voices to fuel her own sad chorus, you know of whom I speak, confront her and end her.
Your own song will give you power... if you can find your voice"
With those words, you head back to the Meistersingers office, where you find her singing to a small circle of men who all seem entranced.
"That old seer will not stop me, I will have all your songs!"
With that, the woman becomes ethereal and ghostlike and floats above the ground.
"I will start with yours!"
